What is an essential oil?

Essential oils have often been referred to as the blood of the plant. With this in mind let’s take a look at blood. Just what is blood and what does it do?
Blood performs vital pickup and delivery services and it also provides much of the protection necessary to withstand foreign “invaders.” We’ve all seen CSI Miami. We know that our blood can identify us through DNA testing. In short, blood picks up nutrients, delivers them, provides protection and identifies you.
The essential oils in plants, working like blood in the body, picks up nutrients, delivers them, and provides protection and identification.
Man first began to create pharmaceutical drugs by researching plants. Certain chemicals were identified in the plants and their actions were observed and noted. These chemicals were then isolated and potentiated to get the most bounce for the buck.
The inherent problem with this type of product is the missing ingredients that formed the whole of the essential oil. When a chemical is isolated and expanded upon, without its balancers which are other chemicals in the substance, unexpected reactions in the human body can appear and manifest. These are what are known as side effects in pharmaceuticals.
